Blood Donors' Recognition Day 2017

Hey guys!

Last year, July 29, 2016 to be exact, I was able to attend the Blood Donor's Recognition Day 2016 held at the Cultural Center of Laguna in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

This year, our HR manager was kind enough to allow me to join Mutya Depidep and our four galloner awardees on this year's Blood Donor's Recognition Day and Awarding Ceremony at the Sta. Rosa City Auditorium, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna last July 21, 2017. Not like in Sta . Cruz, Laguna wherein attendees flock the venue, there were few attendees for this year. Was it because of the proximity of the venue to the main street? Hmmm.....

Anyways, we were ready to receive our 14 Years Service Award but we were given the Testimonial Plaque instead, which, according to Dr. Antonio Emmanuel O. Villafania, Blood Center Manager of PRC Laguna Chapter, is one of the highest awards given by the National Headquarters

Of course, we must not forget our four courageous galloner awardees :

Ramil Ampongan, Jeffrey Batoon & Rodel Faraon
(not in photo - Arjay Carranza)
I envy these galloner awardees. I am not giving up on my dream of becoming one :)

Hello there!

If you are a regular follower of my blog, I'm pretty sure you've read about the Blood Donor's Recognition Day 2016 which I posted last August 4, 2016 followed by the Plaque Protest posted last September 7, 2016.

Well, I am happy to tell everyone that the plaque with the correct number of years has arrived!

It was delivered a few minutes ago and I'm just too excited to inform you!

A Paradise Called Club Punta Fuego

Hi there!

Last year, I got the chance to visit Club Punta Fuego, a beautiful paradise at the heart of Nasugbu, Batangas. We, (Bhed, EDP & I) went there to conduct ocular inspection for a possible venue for the Managers' Plans and Programs Q2 Review. The moment I set foot in this resort, I fell in love with the place...

How can you not fall in love with the beautiful view?

This is the view from the balcony

Do you see the infinity pool?

Here is the clear view of the pool :)

....and the beautiful view of the sea!

Paradise indeed, right? If you want to visit the place, just check their website here.

#PRCGoal : Blood Galloner Award For Me Please!

Hi there!

I have always wanted to get the Blood Galloner's Award from Philippine Red Cross. I admit the first time I donated blood, I was so nervous. I almost backed-out especially when I saw the size of the needle! It was huge! But then, I remembered what my former HR Manager, Lhiza Flores, told me....IT WON'T HURT!

So, I took the risk....and IT HURTS! Waaaaaahhhh! (But just a bit :) )

There is always a sense of fulfillment knowing that the blood I gave may save another person's life.

I started donating blood year 2009 which continued until 2011. Sadly, from 2012 up to present, I was always rejected due to low hemoglobin :(

This is my Blood Donor's Membership Card issued 2009. The cards are color-coded depending on the donor's blood type. Mine is blue for type "A", white for "O", yellow for "B" and pink for "AB".

Now, I am bent on getting this award. More ferrous sulfate please!

MY GOAL : Quarterly Perfect Attendance Award

For two (2) months in a row, I was awarded Perfect Attendance for the months of July & August 2016 :

Now, my goal is to get the Quarterly Perfect Attendance Award which means I have to be always present for the whole month  of September.

If I get it, I will consider that a big achievement on my part.

Don't you think so?

Plaque Protest

Hello everyone!

If you happen to read my previous post regarding the 11 Years of Service Award we received from Philippine Red Cross last July 29, then you'll know that the said award is under protest.

Well, here is the screenshot of the email I sent to PRC Laguna Chapter :

Just a few minutes after I sent this email, Kim Paulo P. Merambel, Donor Recruitment Officer of PRC Laguna Chapter, called me and informed me that there was no record of blood donation for 2003 & 2005. So I sent proof of our blood donation for those years :

So, I waited for his reply to this email. He replied, not to me but to our company nurse :

See the inconsistency? During our conversation, he told me it was 2003 & 2005 but on his email to our company nurse, it became 2005 & 2012.

What irritated me the most was the fact that he sent his reply to our company nurse and not to me. So I sent him this email :

He called me again after a few minutes and he was very apologetic. Of course, I accepted his apology :)

Good news is that, the plaque will be replaced and he will bring the replacement on the blood donation day scheduled on September 22.

Great news, isn't it?

Blood Donors' Recognition Day 2016

Last July 29, I attended Philippine Red Cross Laguna Chapter's Blood Donors' Recognition Day 2016. Actually, I was with two officemates, Kristine Cruz, our company nurse and Aris Guevarra from Facility Dept.

What is a Blood Donors' Recognition Day? It is an annual event organized by Philippine Red Cross Laguna Chapter which gives recognition to employers, employees, religious groups, NGOs, government sectors, and others who have contributed greatly to Red Cross' blood donation programs. For Pricon, we were given a plaque for being one with Red Cross for 11 years.

11 Years of Service Award

Philippine Red Cross gives recognition also to individuals who voluntarily donated blood for nine (9) times, it is called Galloner Award. For this year, we only have one (1) awardee :

Aristotle L. Guevarra, our lone galloner awardee for this year

We were able to have a photo op with the Board of Directors of PRC :

Standing from left to right :
Dir. Jen Sorel Jasareno, Dir. Fred Capistrano, Dir. Jaime B. Ching-Chairman,
Frank Gray M. Sorromero-Chapter Administrator, Dir. Lito F. Noroña, Eryl Agus-Former Asst. Administrator

With Hon. Karen Agapay, Laguna Vice-Governor

The story doesn't end there. When I return to the office the next day, I was excited to show the plaque to the HR people. Since we already received the same award last year, I decided to check on the trophy displayed at the lobby, I was shocked because last year, it was 12 Years of Service Award. How come this year, it became 11 Years of Service??!!??

The trophy given last year - 12 Years of Service Award

So in short, the award is under protest.

I will give you an update regarding the result of my protest.

GCV's Birthday Surprise!

Good morning peeps!

Today is the birthday of our Admin. General Manager, Gerardo C. Velarde. He is also known as GCV or sir Gerry but he also would like to be called "Tatay Gerry".

Yesterday, we surprised him with a birthday cake and a gift. A day before, we (HR, Logistics & Facility) agreed that nobody will greet him until 4:00 PM. According to my officemate, Jenny Ramos, he overheard GCV singing "happy birthday to me" while walking towards visitors' area. And as if talking to himself, "walang bumabati sa akin ah!".

Then 4:00 PM came! The cake is ready....we gathered at the Clinic....then we started singing....

"♪♫ Happy birthday to you...
Happy birthday to you...
Happy birthday, happy birthday,
Happy birthday to you! ♫♪♥♥"

We saw his face lit up when he saw us!

Philippine Red Cross' My Blood Brother Program

Hey guys!

I'm back and hopefully, this is for good. Oh, how I miss this blog! Apologies for being absent for a long time.  It's just that I became too busy with other matters, that's why.

Anyways, I promise to update this blog as often as I can :)

To start with, I want to share with you our company's recent CSR activity. Pricon donated P35,000 to the My Blood Brother Program of Philippine Red Cross' Muntinlupa Branch. You can check their post here  If you checked the link, the P35,000 cash donation is equivalent to 17 tshirts which we distributed to the Top 13 blood donors of the company, 1 for Mutya, who is in charge of Pricon's CSR activity. 1 for me who represents the company on all legal matters and 1 each for Warlito Mantilla and Shiela Diaz.

Check this out :

The tshirt is nice plus the fact that we know it's for a good cause :)

Miss my blog :-(

Yes, I miss my blog.

Though I always log in, I never had the chance to post some important happenings in my life, in my family, even the birthday bash that I promised to post monthly...WTH!

Okay, enough of that. To begin with, allow me to refresh my mind on everything that has happened from March up to present, some are good but mostly bad.

March
I consider March as a bad month for me this year. Waeyo? Because Jason was hospitalized from March 6 until March 12, 2012 due to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Stage 1. And of course, I took care of him while in the hospital meaning, I was absent from work for 6 days! Glad I still have my job when I came back hehe.

Oh, and another thing. Alex had a freak bicycle accident last March 31. He was on his way to my mom's house when the fork of his bicycle was cut into half and he fell on the pavement face first. He sustained bruises on his forehead and nose and 3-stitches on his philtrum. During the first few days, he wasn't able to speak and eat properly because there was a big crack on his lower lip which eventually became a mouth sore. But he's okay now. The stitches have been removed, the wound is already healed though it left a small scar, as expected. But the f_ _ _ _ _ g mouth sore is still there! But over all, he's doing well. In fact, he's planning to join the fun bike on April 28 organized by the City of Taguig for the Mutya ng Taguig motorcade.

On a lighter note, my niece was baptized last March 25 at Sagrada Familia Parish Church. I was the one in-charge of the picture-taking although some of the godparents also took pictures.  Because of the baptism, I wasn't able to attend the debut party of my bestfriend, Claire (sorry). I was included on the 18 candles. But since I wasn't able to attend, I wonder if they changed it to 17 candles? Hahahaha, just kidding. Lola, if you happen to read this, don't get mad. (I fondly call her lola XD).

April
Let me greet first our sexy charisma....Happy Birthday, Park Jung Min! Fighting! Hahaha! How can I forget our boys' birthdays???

April....April...April....not so good month for me. Mainly because we had a reorganization in the office. If before I was only handling Employee Benefits, starting April 1, Employee Services is also mine. Which means all concerns related to employees' service will go through me. What the heck! I have no choice anyway. It's either I accept it or I resign!!! I choose the former obviously since I am still here hahahaha.

Oh my....I think it's already a long post. I will save the rest of my thoughts for the next post.

February Birthday Bash!

As I promised that I will be posting our monthly birthday bash, here's for the month of February. And because it's the month of love, our theme, of course, is Love!

I'll try to explain each pic :)

Our first game is a word game. As you can see, each group is holding a letter from the word "kupido". Mutya, our HR staff, reads a clue and the answer is formed using the given letters. For example : A gadget - answer is IPOD . the first group to guess the correct answer will go in front, form the word by the letters they were holding, and if correct, will be the winner. Group 1 won this game as they were able to give three (3) correct answers.

Our second game maybe familiar to some of you. It is a segment from Happy Yipee Yehey called Tanging Hinga Mo wherein a group with 3 players who has the longest breathe after singing a certain song wins. In this case, I was the one who sang the song. It was Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko by Sharon Cuneta.
- Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko -

Kung tayo ay matanda na, sana'y di tayo magbago
Kaylan man, nasaan ma'y ito ang pangarap ko
Makuha mo pa kayang ako'y hagkan at yakapin, hmmm
Hanggang pagtanda natin
Nagtatanong lang sa 'yo, ako pa kaya'y ibigin mo
Kahit maputi na ang buhok kooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo........
After singing the last word, the first player from group 1 follows and the same goes with the other team.

Group 1 got 31 seconds while group 2 got 27 seconds only.

And the winner is.......sorry, I have no drum roll....GROUP 1!

Congrats to Nelson, Chanda and ma'am Maui

And now, time for group pictures:

blowing of candles!

Btw before I forget, we invited 2 guest singers from our operations group.
Mary Ann and Badette, singing Louder by Charice & If I Ain't Got You from Alicia Keys.
I just thought that maybe if they sang individually, the result would be much better. Their
tendency is to outshine each other by singing louder than the usual. Well, that's just what I thought :)

I hope you enjoyed looking at these set of pics.
